(Jackie) Sites in the town of Luquillo

On the way down to the beach from our house today, Hector, our guide, showed us around the small town of Luquillo where we are staying. We are staying in a gated area, but a lot of the homes we passed by are abandoned or in bad shape. Some of the condos are considered really nice, as they are walking distance to the beach and they have pools in the backyard, parking etc. But you may not realize that they are considered nice condos because they all have bars over the windows. Average rent per month in Luquillo will go anywhere from about $2000 to $3700 for a 3 bedroom condo, depending on how far from the beach it is. Puerto Rico uses the US dollar, so the price for a lot of things is comparable to what you would pay in the US.

Bus Selfie - Beach time!

We arrived at the house, ate lunch,  chose rooms and roommates, and now we're on our way to the beach! Hector, our guide, is taking us on a tour of the area, and then we will head to the beach. Many of us are pretty tired because we got hardly any sleep on the airplane. We are off to a great start!

Arrived!

We safely arrived and are off to our week-long home in Luquillo.

Safely arrived in New York

We arrived safely in New York, and are waiting for our connection to San Juan. We got little sleep on the flight (Colleen got none), and there was a VERY bumpy section right over South Dakota, but otherwise they flight was uneventful. Now we're caffeinating.
